Hot Sauce Labels for Taste the World
These hot sauce labels were created for the fictional company Taste the World. For my labels I drew pictures of large cats that live in the countries where my international hot sauces are from: Mexico (a jaguar), Tunisia (a lion), and Thailand (a tiger).
After drawing the cats by hand, I scanned them and put them into Illustrator. Using a Wacom tablet I created the cats with brushes to resemble woodblock prints. Here are my original sketches:
For the packaging I wanted a global feel and I wanted it to stand apart from the rest of the hot sauce packaging that one would find at the grocery store. I decided to make a pattern for the background and added a gradient that matches the logo. I created countries in Illustrator and put them on the front where the hot sauce window is so that they correspond with the locations. Here is the front of the package, with a white rectangle where the window cut out is:
